Position OverviewThe PACU Nurse Manager is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This working manager provides clinical and administrative oversight, ensuring safe patient care, efficient staffing, and smooth departmental operations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily PACU operations, including staffing, workflow, and patient throughput
- Plan, direct, and manage staffing assignments to ensure appropriate coverage while meeting productivity goals
- Conduct and approve performance evaluations, including goal setting for staff
- Review, update, and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and protocols
- Monitor the condition of the department and address operational or safety concerns
- Participate in performance and process improvement initiatives
- Support organizational initiatives by acting as a change agent and role model
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education and independent study
- Assist with budget management and inventory control
- Promote staff development and ongoing education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BSN required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in PACU, OR, or day surgery
- Prior nursing leadership or management experience required
