Overview
The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for the performance and oversight of clinical patient care for nursing and medical assistants. The Assistant Nurse Manager works in collaboration with the Nurse Manager for the population health management of clinic patient panel using data to improve clinical care workflows that lead to improvement of the quality of patient care and enhance cost effectiveness.
The Assistant Nurse Manager will also support staff education, onboarding, and training of new hires. The Assistant Nurse Manager is a member of the management team and may be assigned clinical responsibility for one or more units. The RN practices professional nursing as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing, Texas Nurse Practice Act and by adhering to organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Salary: 106-114K DOE
ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties:
- Collaborates with the patient’s care team including primary care team, specialists, home care, hospital team, and any others involved with the patient’s care to optimize clinical outcomes.
- Performs Nurse Manager (NM) duties in the absence of NM.
- Supervises assigned staff, including but not limited to establishing work assignments and priorities in relationship to nursing services available, weekly review and adjustment of timecard, weekly review of time off requests, input for performance evaluations, monitoring orientation of new hires, and coaching and counseling staff in conjunction with NMO and HR.
- Monitors health center equipment needs, infection control standards, CLIA and Radiology regulations, compliance with Standing Delegation Orders, and emergency protocols.
- Monitors compliance with standards of care for on‑site treatments and procedures, administration of medications, and timely and quality clinical workflows.
- Enhances the patient experience by addressing and resolving patient issues in a timely manner.
- Ensures that daily patient care (unit) huddles are being conducted.
- Responsible for approving payroll, time off requests, administering performance evaluations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, training, and orientation of new hires, and for coaching and counseling staff.
- Completes daily/weekly quality assurance checklists to include delegation of tasks as appropriate to staff (Rider report, class D, McKesson, CLIA, AED, equipment checks, etc.).
- Ensures all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and Central Health Standard Operating Procedures, Policies and Procedures.
- Ensures all applicable vaccine policies are being followed; may serve as Vaccine Coordinator or back up Coordinator.
- Supports Provider teams by assisting with in‑basket management, refilling medications, rooming, dismissing and triaging patients in a timely manner following established protocols.
- Practices AIDET during each patient interaction to enhance the patient experience.
- Participates in the hiring process for new staff members by conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations to the clinical/non‑clinical leader.
- Acts as a resource to Medical Assistants and other clinical team members.
- Responds to all clinic codes.
- Adheres to the Texas Board of Nursing and Texas Nurse Practice Act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.
- Assists in the development of departmental protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement projects to better serve the patient, family and healthcare system and improve the quality of service provided.
- Maintains awareness of key performance indicators/metrics and coordinates interventions to improve patient outcomes.
