Job Description Overview
We are seeking an experienced PACU Nurse Manager to lead day-to-day operations within a high-volume post-anesthesia care environment.
This is a working manager role responsible for clinical oversight, staffing, performance management, and operational efficiency within the PACU. The ideal candidate brings strong perioperative leadership experience, a hands‑on management style, and a commitment to quality, safety, and staff development.
Responsibilities Operations & Clinical Leadership- Provide direct leadership and oversight of daily PACU operations
- Coordinate staffing assignments to ensure safe coverage and productivity targets
- Serve as a clinical resource and role model for PACU nursing staff
- Monitor department workflows and patient throughput to support surgical services
- Conduct performance evaluations and establish individual employee goals
- Support staff development, coaching, and ongoing education
- Promote engagement, accountability, and professional growth within the team
- Review, update, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and protocols
- Participate in process improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Identify facility or workflow issues and implement corrective actions proactively
- Participate in budget management, staffing efficiency, and inventory control
- Support change initiatives through visible leadership and communication
- Maintain professional growth through continuing education and leadership development
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or compact licensure
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- 2+ years of perioperative experience (OR, PACU, or day surgery)
- Previous nursing leadership or management experience
- Prior PACU leadership experience
- Strong background in postoperative recovery and anesthesia care
