Responsibilities- Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operations of the Clinical Services Department in accordance with federal, state and local standards. Maintain the highest degree of quality care at all times.
- Direct, coordinate, and monitor nursing care delivery to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate care; maintain residents rights at all times.
- Oversee assessment of comprehensive nursing needs and care plans for each resident; ensure timely coordination of care plans.
- Collaborate with team members to monitor day-to-day care levels for quality assurance and appropriate care levels per Medicare/Medicaid.
- Maintain care plans and monitor medication and treatment schedules; work with attending physicians to ensure plans are followed; provide direct care when required.
- Establish and implement Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs for improved resident care and quality of life.
- Participate in community surveys; monitor Quality Indicators and survey reports; assist with Success Plans for areas of opportunity.
- Develop and implement Clinical Services organizational structure; determine staffing needs; recruit, hire, orient nursing staff; assist HR with recruitment and selection; complete performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed; delegate authority to supervisory/lead staff.
- Review complaints and grievances; report and investigate abuse or misappropriation of resident property; report disclosures of protected health information.
- Coordinate ancillary services and oversee MDS submissions; maintain policies and procedures for day-to-day Clinical Services operations.
- Assist in budget preparation; monitor variances; manage equipment and supplies; maintain Medicare/Medicaid reimbursements per regulations.
- Plan and implement safe practices for resident safety in accordance with state, federal, and OSHA regulations; ensure safety policies are followed by staff and residents.
- Assist in infection control and immunization processes; contribute to ongoing training programs to meet continuing education requirements.
- Serve on committees as appointed; evaluate and implement recommendations related to Clinical Services.
- Oversee, manage, and delegate duties of the Assistant Director of Clinical Services and the Quality Improvement Nurse; complete other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university; minimum of three to five years of related supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience including one year of management experience. Long-term care experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, And Other Special Requirements
Must have valid and current state RN license; CPR certification.
Excellent communication; ability to work effectively in a team; maintain privacy and confidentiality; basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel); ability to foster a warm, positive environment.
