Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) – Texas Oncology – 6204 Balcones Austin, Texas 78731 – Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5:00 pm, no weekends, call or major holidays. Positions available at Level 1, Level 2, or Sr. Sign‑on bonus: $2,500.00

The role supports patient care at our Central Austin clinic. Under general supervision, the LVN/LPN provides general nursing care, administers medications, assists with procedures, monitors patients, maintains records, performs vitals and EKGs, and obtains specimens. The LVN/LPN works in compliance with our Clinical Excellence & Compliance Program and the Code of Ethics.
Responsibilities- Provides general nursing care to patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during examination and procedures.
- Observes, records, and reports patients’ condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Prepares and administers medications as directed.
- Screens patients and instructs them in the collection of specimen samples for testing.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls and instructs patients/families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as required by the physician.
- Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Phoned in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information.
- Initiates IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with the LPN/LVN state nurse practice act.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
- 0‑3 years experience as a practical nurse (entry level).
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required within 3 months of hire.
- At least 3 years experience as a practical nurse.
- Minimum five years experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Standing and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lb. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work EnvironmentExposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology clinic environment.
