Overview
This is a full-time Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5pm position with no weekends, call, or major holidays. The role can be Level 1, 2, or Senior based on relevant candidate experience. The position is located at 6204 Balcones Austin, Texas 78731.
Sign On Bonus
: $2,500.00.
- Provides general nursing care to patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Observes, records, and reports patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Screens patients for appropriate information; instructs patients in collection of specimen samples for testing.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls; instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as required by physician.
- Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Phoned in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Maintains patient files, records and other information.
- Initiates IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with LPN/LVN state nurse practice act.
Level 1:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
- 0‑3 years experience as a practical nurse (entry level).
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
Level 2 (in addition to Level 1 requirements):
- At least 3 years experience as a practical nurse.
Level Senior (in addition to Levels 1 and
2):
- Minimum of five years experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
Requires full range of body motion, lifting and carrying patients, handling items up to 40 lbs, standing and walking for extensive periods. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range required.
