Overview
Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)
Location: Central Austin (6204 Balcones Avenue, Austin, TX 78731)
Schedule: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday 8:30 am‑5:00 pm (no weekends, no on‑call, no major holidays).
Levels: Level 1, Level 2 or Senior (SR) based on experience.
Sign‑On Bonus of $2,500.00

- Provides general nursing care to patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physicians during examination and procedures.
- Observes, records, and reports patient condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Screens patients for appropriate information and instructs patients in collection of specimen samples for testing.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls; instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Performs EKG and oxymetry readings as required by physician.
- Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Maintains patient files, records and other information.
- Initiates IV fluids and IV therapeutic medications in accordance with state nurse practice act.
Level 1
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
- 0–3 years experience as a practical nurse.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in the practicing state.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
Level 2 (additional to Level 1 requirements)
- At least 3 years experience as a practical nurse.
Level SR (additional to Level 1 and 2 requirements)
- Minimum of five years experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting.
- Current CPR certification required.
Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Work EnvironmentExposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, radiation, and medical preparations common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
