PurposeThe Pre/Post Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating nursing care provided to the surgical patient during the pre‑admission, pre‑op and post‑op period.
Responsibilities- Function in pre‑admission, pre‑ and post‑operative nursing capacities in the care of ambulatory surgery patients or be willing to cross‑train to achieve full capacity of care.
- Demonstrate necessary practical, technical, or specialized skills required for the role in accordance with standards of practice.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate pre and post‑operative nursing care for patients based on individual needs and physician's orders.
- Maintain flexible schedule, willingness to report with short notice, and anticipate schedule fluctuations.
- Have adequate understanding of operative procedures.
- Maintain current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient education, emotional/social support, and other needed clinical competencies.
- Review charts for completeness before and after procedures; assure relevant information is in chart prior to procedure.
- Participate in hand‑off communication to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in anesthesia time‑out process if performed in pre‑op area.
- Manage medication, controlled substances, handle biohazardous materials, surgical specimens, maintain inventory, logs (temperature, gas levels), and QC of CLIA waived tests.
- Active Texas RN license.
- Minimum of three years pre‑ or post‑op experience.
- BLS & ACLS Certification upon employment.
- PALS certification within 3 months of hire.
- Flexibility in days and hours.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- CPAN, CAPA, or healthcare quality certification.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience in an ambulatory surgery center.

Working Conditions- Variable work hours, generally Monday‑Friday.
- Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods, walk, bend, stoop, stretch.
- Perform overhead and low reaching activities.
- Requires hand‑eye coordination, manual dexterity, use of keyboard, phone, etc.
- Requires normal hearing, eyesight, voice projection.
- Physical strength for lifting up to 50 lbs, sometimes more.
- Ability to respond quickly to patient needs.
- Exposure to noise, infections, hazardous materials, radiation, etc.
- Handle high‑stress, emergency situations, emotional patients/families.
- Resume/CV.
- Three work references (including at least one supervisory reference).
- Letter of interest.
