Summary

Responsible for the daily cleaning of the manufacturing and general storage areas of the facility. Must disassemble and re‑assemble equipment to complete the cleaning process, ensuring all parts remain with the equipment. Remove waste from areas and place in designated containers. Work safely, timely, and efficiently, following GMPs, PPE, and safety regulations, good housekeeping practices, sanitation SOPs, and USDA guidelines for food/sanitation.

Operate compactors (inedible and corrugated), understand Hog Farmer and Inedible bin requirements, and may operate pallet jacks.

Requirement

Understand that equipment has moving parts and safety and quality are paramount. Avoid inserting any body parts into moving parts. Follow proper operating sanitation procedures for the equipment. Handle chemicals used for cleaning and sanitize with proper use, storage, and PPE. Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to communicate, read, and write English (bilingual preferred).
  • Stand, reach, bend, and occasionally climb steps/stairs; lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Work well with others; meet required demands on work/quality to support sanitation process; work with minimum supervision.
  • Understand and demonstrate workable knowledge of chemical usage/cleaning.
  • Evaluation of performance occurs within the first 120 hours of beginning the job.
Work Environment

While performing duties, the team member works around moving machinery and is exposed to hot/cold/refrigerated conditions, loud noise, and wet, slippery floors. The team member must be aware of their surroundings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure product on the floor is squeegee/scooped and placed in appropriate disposal bin; avoid putting food products, gloves, wraps, or other articles down the drain.
  • Ensure drain covers are in place.
  • All inedible food products go in yellow trash bins; other non‑food inedible products in gray trash bins.
  • Minimize water usage in cleaning to avoid overspray and cross‑contamination; cover all motors, electrical panels, and plugs with plastic bags.
  • Properly disassemble/assemble equipment for cleaning; ensure all parts remain with the equipment and are stored properly; store hoses after use.
  • Follow lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  • Adhere to GMPs and USDA guidelines for food/sanitary practices.
  • Operate controls of equipment and report malfunctions or hazards to supervisor.
  • Operate power washers safely and efficiently.
  • Report equipment concerns to supervisor or maintenance team to avoid late start‑ups in production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by lead or supervisor.
  • Report to workstation properly dressed with correct PPE on time.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.
