Job Description
We are seeking contract professionals for Megasys Technician roles supporting client. This is a challenging, hands-on, rewarding job opportunity for people who want to join a growing business in a career role. This contract engagement offers on-the-job training (approximately 3 weeks) for quickly learning critical technical skills to excel in this role and be considered for converting to permanent as determined by supervisors and business needs.
ResponsibilitiesTechnicians will be responsible for the safe operation of assigned chemical and/or gas distribution systems, with duties including:
- Handling and change-out of gas, chemical, and slurry containers
- Gas and chemical equipment troubleshooting and preventative/repair maintenance
- Computer operations to support job functions and customer needs
- Support of quality systems
- Walking up to 5 or 6 miles per day
- Occasionally may need to climb a tanker truck (18-wheeler), while using fall protection, to off-load chemicals into a drum.
- In some cases, Technicians must put on a supplied Contained Breathing Air Respirator (this type of respirator provides air from a cylinder through a mask connected to the cylinder) while working with chemicals (approx. 10-15 minutes)
- Basic lifting (up to 40lbs)
- Bending of the knees and overhead reaching
- PPE made available to workers include safety glasses (prescription if needed), hard hat, ear plugs, chemical apron, gloves, etc.
- The worker will be provided a voucher to purchase safety boots, which they are required to wear
- A Fit for Duty Evaluation will be required prior to reporting and annually which includes:
Pulmonary Function Test for wearing a respirator, audiogram baseline for wearing hearing protection, and physical exam. - Workers are required to complete hazardous communication training (Right to Know) before work. There are no planned activities or work in which a worker is exposed to any of the products used onsite.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Have a mechanical aptitude
- Experience in maintenance or as an equipment technician or in a mechanical or electronic environment
- Experience with chemical and gas distribution equipment
- Military training
- Strong technical aptitude
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Desire to learn, college graduates, or individuals with a military background.
