Control Panel Builder Job Description

Do you have experience building wire harnesses within Military, Aerospace, Aviation, or heavy industrial industries? Would you enjoy working with a rapidly evolving, innovative start-up company? As a wire harness assembly technician, you will support all wire harness and cable assembly for the Assembly/Production department, working on a manufacturing team of 15‑20 members.

You will build the product’s large industrial wire harnesses from scratch, start to finish. These harnesses are most similar to those found in Aviation or Aerospace assemblies and include D399 connectors. Therefore, experience within Aviation, Aerospace, or Military harness assemblies is highly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Support all wire harness and cable assembly for the Assembly/Production department.
  • Build large industrial wire harnesses from scratch, start to finish.
  • Read and interpret drawings to create harnesses without a completed schematic.
  • Work collaboratively within a manufacturing team of 15‑20 members.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2+ years recent experience with building harnesses for Aviation, Aerospace, Military, or heavy industrial assemblies.
  • IPC-620 certification or experience with Mil‑Spec Connectors.
  • Ability to cut, crimp, and label wires using mechanical and electrical assembly tools.
  • Proficient in interpreting drawings to create complex wire harnesses from scratch.
  • Self‑starter with excellent communication skills and problem‑solving abilities.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience using AF8s or AFM8s for harness manufacturing.
  • Experience in start‑up environments.
  • Aircraft mechanics background.
  • Hobbies involving mechanical projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

Work

Environment

The position offers three openings on the 1st Shift from approximately 8am‑5pm. The work environment includes a climate‑controlled assembly shop and corporate headquarters offices. The company fosters a very friendly, driven, and collaborative culture. By next summer, the entire operation will move to a new location approximately 8 minutes away.

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
