Position Summary
Performs highly complex (senior-level) telecommunications engineering work involving cabling plans for new and remodeled buildings both on and off the State of Texas Capitol Complex. Work involves planning and design functions; frequent interaction with customers, other agencies and vendors involved in cabling projects; preparation and documentation of cabling plans, e.g., scope of work, cost estimates and proposals, budgets, cable records, outside plant maps, etc.
Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
• Meets with customers to define requirements and prepares scopes of work and cost of proposals. Prepares budgets and cost estimates for telecommunications for the Texas Facilities Commission's (TFC's) Design, Construction and Leasing (DCL) program on projects related to building construction, and renovation of acquired facilities and remodeling of existing facilities.
• Plans, organizes, documents and coordinates projects for buried conduit systems, building distribution systems (BDS), and voice and data cabling systems.
