What To Expect

The Associate Manager, Mobile Equipment Maintenance must demonstrate knowledge and skills in People and Welding/Fabrication management. Additionally, they should be skilled at follow-up actions to ensure equipment repairs and modifications are effective and safe. They should have knowledge of spare parts management, procurement and budgeting, training, and team development. This role includes the management of a group of Equipment Maintenance Supervisors responsible for leading a skilled group of equipment technicians.

They also manage day-to-day team performance and maintain oversight and welding, fabrication, and safety programs as well as overall upkeep machinery and equipment used in the department. The hired candidate also will have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be a collaborator and innovator.

Responsibilities
  • Establish systems to ensure that department projects and tasks are 100% on-time and effective for all manufacturing equipment
  • Manage the performance in preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of Material Handling Equipment such as Dollies, Racks, and related automobile manufacturing support equipment
  • Day-to-day coverage of Fabrication and Dolly/Rack Repair teams including subordinate supervisors as well as collaboration with interdepartmental teams
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment for non-exempt workers to be productive, and completely engaged with Tesla Mission, Core Values, and Culture
  • Review department budget and provide recommendations to leadership as well as review and approve departments purchase orders
  • Assist with industrial maintenance regulatory compliance and safety
  • Support both day and night shift manufacturing schedule (Various weekends and holiday required)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Management preferred, however extensive military or industry experience will be considered by the hiring manager if there are direct correlations to the description and responsibilities of the role, or equivalent experience
  • 2 plus years of experience in supervision and/or leadership of technical/customer-focused teams
  • 5 plus years of experience in an Industrial maintenance vocation specializing in Welding, Fabrication, Machining, or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) to include monitoring, scheduling, and creating work orders and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Must be skilled with common workplace software (MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Able to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and schematics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & people management skills
