Position Overview:
Nulixir seeks a highly qualified professional to co-lead manufacturing operations. You will partner with Product Development, Sales, and Procurement to deliver premium quality products to B2B customers in a timely and cost-efficient manner and drive continuous improvement as we scale.
- Lead a segment of day-to-day manufacturing operations, including developing a daily production plan and ensuring daily operations goals are realized
- Manage a growing team of Production Operators and Technicians
- Develop plans for all aspects of production including equipment purchases, staffing, work schedules, and material requirements
- Manage an annual capital spend of ~$2M+ and annual operating budget of ~$1.5M+
- Design, implement, and manage production forecasting, capacity planning, and production scheduling based on prioritization of customer orders in partnership with Commercial
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain to plan raw materials inventory for timely production
- Ensure a healthy and safe manufacturing environment compliant with federal and state regulations
- Develop understanding of process flow and key controls; drive continuous improvement of throughput and yield
- Design and implement new manufacturing processes and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Design and implement SOPs providing production instructions for all formulations (make-to-stock and made-to-order)
- Build a robust preventative maintenance plan for all equipment and minimize downtime
- Devise strategy to scale up operations and implement new extraction and production lines to grow capacity
- Conduct feasibility tests for scaling up production of new SKUs in collaboration with the Commercialization team
- Develop robust SOPs for end-to-end manufacturing of new products from bench-top to first production
- Define quality standards (quality control and quality assurance) across manufacturing and establish systems to meet them
- Establish a metrics-driven system to measure batch quality and meet defined goals (e.g., particle size, pH)
- Lead processes to obtain GMP, Organic, and other relevant certifications for the facility
- Maintain relevant quality and regulatory certifications on an annual basis
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations in food & beverage, food B2B, or related industries
- Experience in various manufacturing roles: quality control, production, maintenance, purchasing, inventory management, and logistics
- Relevant certifications in manufacturing operations and/or quality control preferred but not required
- Experience establishing new manufacturing systems, processes, and operations (e.g., setting up new facilities)
- Strong experience building and maintaining a world-class quality organization within food and beverage
- Experience with rapidly growing, fast-paced businesses and/or startup environment
- Collaborative work style across functions and external resources to analyze data and drive actionable improvements
- Strong communication skills to convey findings and recommendations
- Self-motivated, organized, resilient, capable of prioritizing and overcoming obstacles
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels
- Entrepreneurial and self-starter; thrives in ambiguity
- Pay Range: $65 - $85K plus bonus
