Job Description Summary

Responsible for leadership, development, and implementation of the college’s programs to comply with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA). This role ensures the institution fulfills all requirements of the applicable laws and regulations. The Clery Compliance Officer reports to the Office of Equal Opportunity Compliance and serves as the primary expert on Clery geography, crime classification, and the preparation of the Annual Security Report.

The Manager position receives general direction from higher-level administrative staff and exercises considerable independent judgment in managing departmental operations. The Manager is responsible for directing, supervising, and evaluating the performance of subordinate staff, ensuring alignment with the college's mission and goals. This role involves setting performance standards, providing coaching and development opportunities, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

  • May oversee unit-level budgeting and purchasing activities; ensure responsible fiscal management aligned with institutional priorities and public accountability standards.
  • Lead the development and use of reporting tools and data systems to support strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, and compliance; interpret data to inform policy, operations, and service delivery.
  • Manage departmental programs and services to ensure alignment with institutional goals, timelines, and applicable regulations; coordinate with unit leadership to address operational needs and service enhancements.
  • Plan and allocate staff and operational resources to support unit goals, maintain service continuity, and respond to emerging institutional needs.
Description Of Duties And Tasks
  • Provides oversight of the college’s Clery Act compliance and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act compliance programs. In conjunction with applicable college stakeholders, ensures that required program elements are developed, implemented, and maintained.
  • Supervises the Clery Compliance Coordinator, whose primary responsibilities include maintaining the Daily Crime Log, implementing the institution’s CSA program, and managing elements of the DFSCA compliance program.
  • Ensures an accurate record of ACC's Clery geography is maintained.
  • Prepares, publishes, and distributes the Annual Security Report.
  • In cooperation with stakeholders, ensure required policies and procedures are developed and maintained to guide ACC compliance activities and to support the policy statements in the Annual Security Report.
  • Works with the Clery Compliance Coordinator and all other relevant stakeholders to ensure correct recording and complete disclosure of crime statistics in both the Daily Crime Log and ACC’s Clery crime statistics.
  • Ensures the correct submission of crime statistics to the Department of Education.
  • Oversees the college's Timely Warning and Emergency Notification programs. Works in cooperation with ACC District Police to assess crimes and send compliant crime alerts when required.
  • Collaborates with the ACC Emergency Management Office to ensure that tests of emergency response and evacuation procedures are completed each year and that documentation includes all required components to meet the Clery Act's definition of a test.
  • Partners with the Equal Opportunity Compliance Department’s Education Coordinator in developing, implementing, and tracking Clery-related training programs.
  • Leads ACC’s Clery Compliance Committee or working group(s) and meets periodically with ACC’s Clery Steering Committee (executive oversight).
  • Audits the College's Clery Compliance program and tracks corrective actions to completion. Serves as the primary point of contact for any Department of Education audits or program reviews.
