Safety CoordinatorReports to: Regional Safety Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Austin, TX
Seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator with a proven track record for success. The Safety Coordinator will provide direction, consultation and oversight for the administration and implementation of our Environmental, Health and Safety programs, policies, and procedures. Assist in the development of objectives, targets, plans, and procedures for regulatory compliance. Evaluate and provide direction for programs to minimize physical and financial exposure from potential or actual risks.
Evaluate and provide direction for safety training requirements. This position requires a high level of correspondence with the service team, sales team, customers, vendors, and owners.
- Provide direction for aspects of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS), including regulatory compliance and worker’s compensation.
- Assist, plan, and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including OSHA and DOT.
- Perform safety surveys and inspections to assure safe and healthy conditions for workers. Prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Work with service leaders on safety meetings to discuss EHS issues, support programs and projects, and advise on safety compliance concerns and/or preventative actions.
- Act as a safety consultant/advisor to managers and leaders.
- Facilitate appropriate safety and health training for all employees, as well as accident prevention and investigation training for managers and supervisors.
- Maintain safety files and records.
- Work with supervisors in conducting accident investigations.
- Manage findings from third‑party audit to corrective action and closure.
- Perform additional fleet safety administration duties as assigned.
- 3–5 years of Construction Safety related experience or equivalent combination of education and related safety experience.
- Safety certification (CHST, CHSO) a plus.
- OSHA 500 & 510 certification highly preferred.
- First Aid CPR Certified.
- Moderate PC skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Clear driving record with current valid license required.
- Excellent initiative, interpersonal communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to influence others.
Language:
Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
Mathematical:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, compute ratios and percentages, and interpret graphs.
Reasoning:
Apply common sense to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form; solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Regular use of hands to operate keyboard and telephone; reach with hands and arms; frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional climbing or balancing; ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel and Work AvailabilityRequired to travel overnight and on leave 10–25% of the time. Must maintain regular attendance and be available for weekends and holidays as required by business needs.
