Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, located in Austin, Texas, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Role DescriptionThe Executive Director of the Arc of Ministry Center is responsible for the Center's overall strategic planning and daily operations, ensuring the effective implementation of programs managed by the Center, its institutional partners, and program participants. This role involves comprehensive oversight of programming, staff management, financial stewardship, and grant compliance, while fostering strong community and Seminary relationships.
This is a 5-year contract position with the potential for extension, subject to funding. This position reports to the President.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the Center, ensuring all programmatic goals are pursued and met according to grant specifications. Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote efficient operations.
- Program Development & Oversight: Develop, coordinate, and implement a variety of programs and activities that meet the needs and interests of the Center's partners and participants, aligning this work with the Seminary’s mission. Regularly evaluate program effectiveness through formal methods and make adjustments as necessary.
- Staff Leadership & Supervision: Oversee the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of all staff and volunteers following established Seminary HR practices. Offer ongoing professional development, address conflicts, and cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Financial Management: Oversee the Center’s budget, participate in fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Seminary’s Office of Advancement, and explore and pursue grant opportunities to maintain financial stability and support the center's activities.
- Compliance & Administration: Ensure full adherence to all Seminary regulations, as well as applicable state and federal laws and licensing standards. Keep precise records of program participation, staff, and financial activities. Maintain safeguarding and a culture of safety for participants who are minors.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the primary liaison to Lilly Endowment Inc., educational partners, and program participants. In coordination with the Seminary’s marketing and communications office, promote the Center's services through outreach, marketing, and public relations efforts to maintain and grow participation.
Education: A minimum of a master's degree in theology is required, with strong knowledge of pastoral leadership and congregational ministry. Doctoral degree (D.Min., PhD, ThD) in theology preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in a management or leadership position within a center or similar environment.
