Hamilton Mayer is working in a close partnership with a top #10 ENR ranked General Contractor seeking a highly specialized and results-driven
Project Executive (PX)to provide comprehensive executive leadership and management for a flagship,$450 million ground-up Data Center construction project
in the Austin, TX metro area.
The successful candidate will be the senior executive on-site, fully responsible for the overall financial performance, schedule adherence, technical quality, safety, and ultimate successful delivery of this highly complex, fault-tolerant facility.
Key Responsibilities & Technical Expertise
I. Mission Critical & Technical Authority
- Data Center Systems Mastery:Possess deep, verifiable expertise in the design, construction, and rigorous commissioning of high-density,
Tier III/IV data center infrastructure
. This includes expert knowledge of all redundant
MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems (UPS, Generators, Switchgear, MV/HV distribution, advanced cooling/chillers, CRAC/CRAH). - Commissioning Oversight:Direct responsibility for the comprehensive
Integrated System Testing (IST)and commissioning process (Levels 1-5) to guarantee 24/7/365 fault-tolerant operation and reliability before handover. - P&L and Financial Management:Full accountability for the$450M project P&L, including managing budgets, forecasting cost-to-complete, controlling expenditures, and securing project profitability.
II. TFO and Utility Interconnection Management
- Transmission Facility Owner (TFO) Expertise:Must possess a strong, specialized understanding of the challenges and requirements related to high-voltage utility coordination and interconnection with the
Transmission Facility Owner (TFO), such as LCRA or major utility providers in Texas. - Interconnection Strategy:Strategic oversight of the design, planning, and execution of on-site high-voltage substations and transmission tie-ins. This includes negotiating and managing complex utility contracts, interconnection agreements, and ensuring compliance with all local TFO standards and regulatory tariffs for a facility requiring massive power capacity.
III. Executive and Operational Leadership
- Client Management:Serve as the primary executive liaison for the client/owner’s executive team, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on all strategic project objectives.
- Risk Mitigation:Proactively identify, quantify, and implement mitigation strategies for all contractual, schedule, and technical risks unique to large-scale, mission-critical construction.
- Team Leadership:Lead, mentor, and direct the entire project leadership team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and safety excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Experience:Minimum of
15+ years
in commercial construction, with at least7 years in a Project Executive or Director-level role
managing mission-critical facilities. - Project Size:Proven experience as the lead executive on at least two projects exceeding$200 million
in value, specifically in the
data center/hyperscale
sector. - Technical Acumen:Deep familiarity with utility systems, high-voltage distribution, and current data center design standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute Tiers).
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, ideal but not essential.
