Job Description

Senior Commercial Manager – Rail Infrastructure (Austin, TX)

The Senior Commercial Manager will play a key role in delivering value, managing stakeholder expectations, and ensuring project profitability and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial strategy and execution across all phases of rail construction projects.
  • Manage and mentor commercial teams including Quantity Surveyors and Contract Administrators.
  • Oversee procurement processes, contract negotiations, and supplier management.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, legal requirements, and company policies.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support claims management, dispute resolution, and final account settlements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and external partners to ensure commercial success.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, and other standard forms of contract.
  • Expertise in cost control, procurement, and contract negotiation.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and commercial acumen.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in commercial software (e.g., CATO, CostX, SAP, Oracle).
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartered status (e.g., MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of commercial experience in large‑scale infrastructure or rail projects.
  • Proven track record in managing multi‑million‑dollar contracts and commercial teams.
