Role Summary

The Superintendent 3 will plan, manage and execute all aspects of assigned projects, leading the team, scheduling, budgeting, quality, safety and stakeholder communication to ensure timely and profitable completion in line with JE Dunn’s strategy and values.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core
  • Lead the company’s safety culture, mentor staff, investigate incidents and retrain as needed.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers and internal programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO.
  • Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
  • Coordinate and oversee job site operations, daily stand‑ups and weekly trade meetings.
  • Attend and manage progress meetings, OAC meetings and other owner/architect interactions.
  • Create, monitor and adjust the project schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Track and monitor project budget and costs via the project management system.
  • Communicate key project information to owners, design team, authorities, subcontractors and other departments.
  • Maintain project filing, documentation, drawings and inspection notebooks.
  • Approve unit cost information, complete daily reports and track expenses.
  • Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make necessary adjustments.
  • Manage material and equipment needs.
  • Support procurement processes, formwork selection and other logistics.
  • Approve timecards to ensure accurate reporting of hours and cost codes.
  • Ensure quality compliance through specifications and QA/QC processes.
  • Support project close‑outs, coordinating pre‑punch and owner/architect activities.
  • Build understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.
  • Participate with field operations leadership and project team in developing the pre‑plan and adjusting as needed.
  • Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing.
  • Collaborate with project management on schedule and cost impacts of changes.
  • Negotiate project changes with owners and architects.
  • Prepare and present for all project review meetings.
  • Participate in buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Apply terms and conditions of owner and subcontractor contracts.
  • Recruit top talent and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core
  • Manage moderately complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
  • Oversee projects with multiple field supervisors.
  • Lead the project pursuit process when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with marketing on presentations and marketing activities.
  • Generate new business opportunities by cultivating long‑term client relationships.
  • Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on the project or its portion.
  • Identify, understand and actively manage project risks.
  • Provide problem‑solving recommendations for team review and implementation.
  • Manage deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics.

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
