Maintenance Technician – Diocese of Austin

St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic Church & School, a dynamic parish in North Austin, TX, is seeking a full-time Maintenance Specialist for the Facilities Department.

The Maintenance Technician II maintains the operating condition of all parish buildings and equipment, completing simple repairs. The Specialist utilizes fundamental mechanical, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and heating and cooling skills in performing assignments.

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish, guiding Christ’s mission. Employees in this position are closely connected to the Pastor, assisting in ministry and supporting the parish’s mission of becoming a saint, making disciples, and building the Kingdom of Heaven.

• Maintain, repair, clean, and service all equipment, fixtures, buildings, and properties.
• Occasionally set up rooms for events in the parish family center.
• Assist with seasonal decorations in the church and parish family center.
• Assist with keeping the parish grounds clean (picking up debris, pressure washing, maintaining floor mats, and other cleaning tasks).
• Must be able to lift 80 pounds and be comfortable climbing ladders and operating common hand and power tools.

• Employees are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor.
• The parish is an at‑will employer.
• All buildings and vehicles are tobacco‑free.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
• Working hours:
  
  minimum 40 per week, flexible based on ministry needs, with occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Exposure to religious ceremonies and liturgical celebrations.
• Adherence to established dress codes and conduct standards.
• Possible use of personal or parish vehicles for off‑site locations.
• Travel within and outside the parish to meetings and events, which may include overnight lodging.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Fluent in English.
• 3–6 years of experience in general maintenance, construction, or make‑ready.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks; ability to operate word‑processing software.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Maintenance of compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout employment.
