Maintenance Technician – Howard University Hospital

We’re looking for a Maintenance Technician to keep our facilities running smoothly and provide top‑quality service to our residents.

• Complete maintenance requests quickly and efficiently, handling tasks like electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and painting.
• Maintain, repair, and replace HVAC systems to keep residents comfortable year‑round.
• Fix showers, sinks, appliances, doors, cabinets, walls, and building exteriors.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance to avoid issues.
• Handle minor pool maintenance and keep community pools clean and safe.
• Monitor outside vendors and contractors to ensure quality work.
• Assist with light landscaping, trash pickup, and sidewalk cleaning.
• Prepare units for new residents by completing necessary repairs.
• Report safety issues promptly and follow all safety regulations.
• Help with special projects and additional maintenance tasks as needed.

• Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, and carpentry.
• Experience with HVAC maintenance.
• Professional communication skills.
• Reliability and flexibility for emergency repairs, weekends, and evenings if required.
• Physical ability to climb up to 40 feet, lift heavy items, and distinguish colors.
• Collaborative attitude and teamwork.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of experience in facility maintenance.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
