PurposeResponsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and dish room areas of a large-scale commercial food service operation.
Responsibilities- Ensure the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks which may include cleaning of dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, cleaning floors, surfaces, walls, windows, patio furniture, removal of trash, and dishwashing. Operate commercial cleaning equipment including dish machine. Process dishware, sort silverware, scrape/stack dishes, clean pots/pans, and restock dishware for front of house. Replenish and move dishes to the proper place within the unit when needed.
Remove trash periodically throughout shift and clean/line trash cans. Assist with restocking of convenience store merchandise as needed. - Ensure proper sanitation and safety techniques while maintaining an exceptional level of productivity in the area. Ensure that all food service sanitation practices, policies, and procedures are followed. Oversee the use of chemicals, equipment, and sanitation as well as proper maintenance and storage. Maintain chemical room according to proper standard procedures, including monitoring proper inventory levels of chemicals and supplies.
- Assist in providing training and guidance to temporary and student staff as assigned by the supervisor and/or leader. Communicate professionally and effectively with staff, supervisory staff, and/or customers. Maintain current knowledge of all areas of responsibility. Report emergencies as well as needed repairs for buildings or equipment.
- Adhere to written and oral University and UHD policies such as time and attendance and UHD / UT trainings and compliance. Complete and maintain required food safety training, including Texas Food Handler Safety. Follow work safety guidelines and utilize proper PPE as needed. Other duties as assigned.
- Six months of commercial cleaning experience.
- Six months of experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care, or floor care equipment.
- Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training required by University Housing and Dining.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications- One year or more of commercial cleaning experience.
- One year or more of experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care, or floor care equipment.
- Experience working in a large dining service operation.
- Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.
$37,440 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions- Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).

- The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete testing for strength and agility prior to employment.
