The below job summary and responsibilities reflects the duties of Assistant General Counsel. The Principal Attorney will differ as fewer skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate s skills and experience.
Responsibilities- Provides leadership and counsel to Xcel Energy management on complex legal, business, legislation, regulation and strategic matters.
- Prepares contracts, pleadings, briefs and other documents for business transactions or legal proceedings.
- Represents Xcel Energy in courts, regulatory agencies and other adjudicatory or adversarial proceedings.
- May serve in a lead role to provide overall practice expertise and direction of attorneys within area of expertise. May act as primary point of contact for business areas.
- Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice, or able to be licensed to practice on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe of accepting the position, where the position is located.
- 10+ years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent legal experience.
- Leadership experience required.
Salary Range: $175,000 - $242,367

- Excellent Verbal & Written Communication Skills
- Licensed to practice law in Texas

- 6-10 years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent legal experience.
