Job Title: IT QA Automation Analyst III, Quality Assurance and Testing
Location: Austin, Texas 78751, Remote / Telework Available
Assignment Duration: April 13, 2026, through August 31, 2026
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced QA Automation Analyst III to support quality assurance and testing initiatives for a large public sector technology environment. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, usability, and performance of software applications through a combination of manual testing, automated testing, and quality analysis.
The selected professional will investigate and diagnose quality issues, develop automated test scripts, prepare and execute UAT test cases, and collaborate closely with development teams in an Agile environment. This role requires strong expertise in QA automation, test management tools, defect tracking, and software development lifecycle practices.
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, technically proficient, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support high quality software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Testing
- Investigate and diagnose quality complaints, analyze logs, databases, and related data sources to identify root causes of issues.
- Track system components and recommend corrective actions to address quality concerns.
- Verify system logs and databases to identify potential improvements and performance concerns.
- Develop and maintain automated and manual test scripts.
- Write and execute comprehensive test cases and test plans.
- Perform QA automation testing and scripting using UFT.
- Create and review performance testing scripts and analyze test results.
- Develop detailed UAT test plans and test cases aligned with business requirements.
- Record test results following execution of program testing.
- Coordinate UAT schedules and communicate progress with stakeholders.
- Participate in test readiness activities and provide recommendations regarding go or no-go decisions.
- Log and track defects using Jira and related tools.
- Categorize and prioritize identified issues to ensure clear defect management throughout the development lifecycle.
- Track test case execution and generate status reports.
- Work closely with Agile Scrum teams to support delivery of software release sprints.
- Participate in sprint planning, testing activities, and quality reviews.
- Support development teams across development, testing, and UAT environments and troubleshoot defects as required.
- Develop and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTM).
- Align testing artifacts with business requirements to ensure comprehensive coverage.
- Maintain documentation within collaboration platforms such as Share Point .
- Respond to inquiries regarding system errors, program issues, or technical questions.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Track time spent on project tasks and provide accurate estimates for changes or enhancements.
- Minimum 8 years of experience writing and executing test cases and creating test plans.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with software usability concepts, requirements traceability, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Minimum 8 years of experience using Xray Test Case Management Tool.
- Minimum 8 years of experience writing SQL queries to perform CRUD operations.
- Minimum 8 years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines to support software testing processes.
- Minimum 8 years of experience conducting API testing using tools such as Postman, SOAPUI, JMeter, or similar.
- Minimum 8 years of experience developing and executing automated testing using UFT.
- Experience performing multiple testing types including:
- Unit testing
- Integration testing
- Regression testing
- Smoke testing
- User acceptance testing
- System testing
- Stress testing
- Performance testing
- Knowledge of code coverage tools, systems analysis, and design methodologies.
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming concepts.
- Experience working with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) systems or programs.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within Agile teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders and technical teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high quality results.
- Self-motivated and capable of driving progress toward project milestones.
