Hardware Engineer, Electronics Technician
Expected compensation: 25.00 - 26.00 USD Per Hour

Hire Art is helping our client grow their autonomous vehicle hardware team in Austin. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, troubleshooting, and setting up computer systems — and wants to apply those skills to real-world autonomous platforms.
You don’t need to be a Linux administrator or embedded systems engineer. We’re looking for hands‑on builders who are comfortable learning, following technical documentation, and working carefully with complex hardware.
Available Shifts- Monday-Friday, 7AM-4PM
- Monday-Friday, 3PM-11PM
- Build and install computer systems, sensors, and support hardware into autonomous vehicles
- Swap and upgrade components such as CPUs, GPUs, RAM, SSDs, and sensor modules
- Route and manage internal cabling (USB, Ethernet, CAN, power, video) cleanly and safely
- Install operating systems (Windows and Linux such as Ubuntu) and configure systems from scratch
- Adjust BIOS/UEFI settings during system setup
- Troubleshoot hardware issues, including faulty cables, misconfigured systems, or connection problems
- Perform system validation and testing before deployment
- Follow ESD‑safe handling procedures and power safety best practices
- Collaborate with mechanics, engineers, and software teams during integration
- Building or repairing desktop PCs or laptops
- Replacing screens, batteries, or logic boards in electronics
- Installing Windows or Linux and navigating basic terminal commands
- Adjusting BIOS/UEFI settings during system setup
- Working with cabling, connectors, or vehicle electronics
- Following ESD precautions when handling components
- Comfortable working in tight spaces and maintaining neat, organized builds
- Strong troubleshooting mindset — you enjoy figuring out what’s wrong and fixing it
- Soldering or mobile electronics repair experience
- Automotive or EV experience
- Familiarity with CAN wiring
- Experience working in QA, RMA, bench tech, or integration environments
- Hands‑on work with cutting‑edge autonomous vehicle systems
- Blends PC building, electronics repair, and automotive integration

This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be on‑site and available to candidates local to the Austin, TX area.
