Location: Mostly Remote (Must be able to travel to Austin or San Antonio, TX as needed—requirement is to be fluid as busy seasons may require multiple times per month)

OverviewA Texas-based government organization is seeking an Enterprise Architect to support a large-scale, statewide cybersecurity initiative. This role carries executive visibility and requires deep experience across enterprise architecture, cybersecurity architecture, hybrid infrastructure, and mission-critical system design. The ideal candidate thrives in high‑impact environments and brings extensive architecture leadership within large, complex organizations.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Architecture Leadership- Lead enterprise architecture efforts across cybersecurity, IT, OT, hybrid cloud, and resilience environments
- Make time‑sensitive, high‑consequence architecture decisions affecting statewide cyber posture
- Produce high‑quality technical design documentation, diagrams, and decision artifacts
- Establish and manage architecture governance and review boards
- Resolve cross‑organizational conflicts and adjudicate technical risk tradeoffs
- Prevent architectural drift in fast‑moving environments
- Work directly with engineering teams to validate designs and integration patterns
- Architect solutions across security telemetry pipelines, SIEM platforms, network detection systems, cloud and virtualization platforms
- Contribute to requirements shaping, solution evaluations, and architectural risk assessments
- Influence major technology procurements with long‑term impact on cost, interoperability, and sustainability
- Enterprise Architecture (large, complex environments): 15+ years
- IT Infrastructure Architecture (on‑prem + hybrid): 12+ years
- Cybersecurity Architecture (defensive enterprise): 10+ years
- Technical Design Documentation & Decision Artifacts: 10+ years
- Architecture Governance / Review Boards: 8+ years
- Security telemetry & SIEM architecture: 8+ years
- Cloud & virtualization platforms / hybrid environments: 8+ years
- Network detection & visibility architecture: 7+ years
- NIST-based security and risk frameworks: 7+ years
- Executive technical communication / briefings: 10+ years
- Mostly remote
- Required travel to Austin or San Antonio on an as‑needed basis (must be fluid – busy seasons require multiple visits per month, slower seasons will be 1‑2 times per quarter)

This is a Contract position based out of Austin, TX.
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $85.00/hr.
