AI Trainer – Legal Domain (Contract Intelligence & Legal Research)

Location: Hybrid in Austin, Texas (Preferred) or Remote

Department: Legal Operations / Innovation

Reports To: Head of Legal Operations / Strategic Delivery

Type: Contract (Potential Full Time Need)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Legal Domain AI Trainer to support the implementation, optimization, and governance of a domain‑specific Legal AI platform. This role will ensure the platform delivers measurable time‑to‑value by training, refining, and aligning AI outputs to internal legal standards, playbooks, and workflows.

The AI Trainer will work at the intersection of Legal, Technology, and Operations to improve contract intelligence, legal research accuracy, workflow automation, and compliance oversight—while maintaining strong guardrails around data governance, explainability, and regulatory alignment.

This is not a technical ML engineering role. It requires a legal‑minded professional who understands contract review, redlining, compliance analysis, and legal research—and can translate that expertise into structured AI guidance and optimization.

Key Responsibilities AI Training & Optimization
  • Train and refine AI outputs against company‑approved legal playbooks (e.g., indemnity, insurance, limitations, venue, publicity provisions).
  • Improve redlining accuracy and clause suggestions within Microsoft Word integration.
  • Validate AI‑generated drafts, issue lists, executive summaries, and contract deviations.
  • Develop structured prompts and workflows for repeatable legal use cases.
  • Provide feedback loops to vendors to improve model accuracy and reduce hallucinations.
Contract Intelligence & Workflow Enablement
  • Oversee AI‑driven contract review and playbook‑based redlining processes.
  • Support post‑execution obligation extraction (renewals, payment terms, KPIs).
  • Ensure citation‑backed outputs with primary source linkage for legal propositions.
  • Assist in mapping SWIFT/financial or cross‑functional data integrations where applicable.
Legal Research & Quality Assurance
  • Validate case law and statutory citations.
  • Review outputs for compliance with up‑to‑date regulatory standards.
  • Implement hallucination guardrails and uncertainty flagging procedures.
  • Audit AI reasoning trails for explainability and defensibility.
Security, Governance & Compliance
  • Support Zero Data Retention (ZDR) controls and vendor governance reviews.
  • Ensure alignment with EU AI Act standards, ISO 42001, and NIST AI RMF frameworks.
  • Assist in jurisdictional data isolation assessments (Texas‑based regulatory context).
Training & Adoption
  • Conduct live and virtual training sessions for legal users.
  • Develop prompt engineering guidance and best practice documentation.
  • Support trial/POC testing periods and gather user feedback.
  • Create self‑help training resources and onboarding materials.
  • Drive adoption within Microsoft Word and Outlook‑based workflows.
Required Qualifications
  • Ideally 5+ years experience in:
  • Contract drafting and redlining
  • Legal research and citation validation
  • Legal operations or legal technology implementation
  • Experience working with AI‑powered legal tools (e.g., Co‑Counsel, Harvey, Legora, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Legal playbooks and fallback clause frameworks
  • Regulatory and compliance environments
  • Ability to translate legal standards into structured AI guidance.
  • Experience conducting user training in professional environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ISO 20022, payments, commodities, or financial regulatory environments.
  • Background in enterprise AI governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office integrations (Word/Outlook plugins).
  • Experience managing vendor POCs and legal tech implementations.
  • Knowledge of AI risk management frameworks and audit processes.
Success Metrics
  • 50%+ reduction in time‑to‑close for routine contract tasks.
  • Increased adoption of AI within Word/Outlook workflows.
  • Reduction in low‑value manual review work.
  • High accuracy in citation‑backed outputs.
  • Strong compliance alignment with emerging AI regulations.
Why This Role Matters

This role will directly shape how AI augments legal decision‑making. The AI Trainer will ensure the platform enhances productivity while maintaining legal rigor, transparency, and regulatory compliance. This is a strategic role with high visibility across Legal, Technology, and Operations.
