We are seeking an Application Engineer to serve as an internal consultant and technical problem solver across a complex, multi-language engineering ecosystem. This role supports GenAI-driven tooling and backend platforms by diagnosing production and development issues, identifying root causes, and implementing long-term solutions.

You will partner directly with internal customers and engineering teams to troubleshoot code-level challenges, translate technical findings into clear documentation, and ensure systemic improvements are embedded into the product to prevent repeat issues. This is a highly cross-functional role requiring strong distributed systems knowledge, backend expertise, and exceptional communication skills.

The opportunity for you

In this role, you will:

• Act as a technical consultant to internal stakeholders, diagnosing and resolving complex backend and distributed system issues.
• Context switch across multiple programming languages within GenAI tooling environments to troubleshoot, analyze, and remediate defects.
• Partner directly with consumers experiencing issues, gather code snippets, reproduce problems, and translate technical errors into actionable solutions.
• Ensure authentication, validation, and permissions models are functioning properly across systems (conceptual and technical understanding required).
• Create detailed technical documentation, resolve support tickets, and implement systemic improvements so issues do not recur.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to embed long-term fixes into product architecture.

Key Success Factors (Top 3 Must Haves)

• Strong Backend & Distributed Systems Expertise
  • 3–5 years of proficiency in Java (open to other backend languages).
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, API design, and debugging.
  • Deep knowledge of distributed systems (most critical requirement).
  • Experience with server-side systems and backend service communication.
• Authentication & Security Architecture Knowledge
  • Understanding of authentication protocols, including mutual TLS (mTLS).
  • Experience with key and certificate management.
  • Conceptual understanding of user authentication flows, validation checks, and permissions models within distributed architectures.
• Technical Communication & Documentation
  • Strong written communication skills (support documentation, ticket resolution, root cause analysis).
  • Ability to clearly translate technical errors into client‑friendly solutions.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and preventing recurring issues through structured documentation and implementation improvements.

Nice to Haves

• Experience supporting enterprise‑level systems.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Splunk or Grafana
  .
• Previous experience in Developer Experience (Dev Ex), platform engineering, or developer tooling environments.
• Exposure to GenAI tooling ecosystems or multi‑language backend systems.
