Quality Lab Technician

The AMD Quality Returns Verification Team is looking for a technician to work onsite at our Austin facility. The role involves a combination of Computer System Assembly/Operation/Debug and Maintenance, Inventory Management, and Shipping Logistics. Experience and comfort with PC hardware is required.

• Experience with computer system assembly, operation and troubleshooting
• Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to multi-task

• System Building – Assembly and validation of benchtop computer platforms in the lab
• System Debug – Troubleshooting and resolution of issues with platforms as needed
• System Maintenance – Regular monitoring, maintenance and assessment of platforms
• Flashing BIOS versions, updating firmware, installing OS software
• Visual Inspection and cleaning of CPUs
• Testing CPUs on multiple systems for verification, using proprietary test suite, and logging test results in the data capture tool
• Inventory management of hardware and CPUs in the lab
• Shipping Logistics – Handle documentation and communications with Global Logistics team regarding incoming and outgoing shipments

• 2+ years of experience with PC hardware assembly, operation and debug
• Experience handling computer components in an ESD-safe environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams) and issue tracking systems (JIRA or similar)
• Previous experience with Inventory Management
• Previous experience testing CPUs
• Previous experience working in an RMA team role

• High school diploma or equivalent required
