Data Scientist - Statistical Modeling (open to senior-level)
About the RoleWe're looking for a Data Scientist with strong statistical expertise to drive data-informed decisions across our autonomous vehicle platform. You'll design experiments, analyze real‑world vehicle data, and apply rigorous statistical methods to evaluate system performance, safety, and reliability.
What You’ll Do- Design and analyze A/B tests and experiments to evaluate AV system performance and algorithm changes
- Build statistical models (regression, time series, ANOVA) to analyze vehicle behavior and fleet performance across millions of miles
- Develop metrics and KPIs to measure safety and reliability using hypothesis testing and confidence intervals
- Perform segmentation analysis across driving scenarios to identify performance patterns and improvement areas
- Conduct failure analysis and anomaly detection using statistical methods
- Build data pipelines and automated reporting for continuous fleet monitoring
- Partner with engineering teams to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Strong foundation in statistics and experimental design (hypothesis testing, regression, time series, A/B testing)
- Expert Python proficiency with statistical libraries (stats models, Sci Py, Num Py, scikit‑learn, Pandas)
- Solid SQL skills and experience with distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop)
- Data visualization experience (Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau)
- Strong communication skills to explain complex statistical concepts to technical teams
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or sensor data
- Bayesian methods and causal inference knowledge
- Background in safety analysis or reliability engineering
- Experience with R or SAS
