Windows AI Selfhost Tech 2 Months Contract Austin, TX (100% Onsite) Top 3 skills:

Windows OS, hands on debug experience, AI knowledge (beneficial, but not mandatory if they have strong Windows OS and debug experience)

About the Role:

We are looking for candidates in client laptops/desktops with more hands‑on experience in DISM, WinPE, scripting, creating OS images, etc.. working in the lab environment setting up the laptops, systems with/without chassis, Bios/FW/driver updates, running test plan (video/audio/network/USB) and issue troubleshooting.

Selfhost setup
  • Contractor will be responsible to install device images on all selfhost devices (10-150 units).
  • Communicate/interface with AMD Windows OS team and identify and retrieve the early builds of Windows OS as a base.
  • Communicate with platform software leads and identify collection of drivers, BIOS and applications that need to be added to device image.
  • Use tools like DISM and WinPE to create and manipulate custom OS images.
  • Understand how to manage and extract the Windows Driver Store to migrate and install drivers.
  • Generate basic scripts in Power Shell.
  • Understand diskpart and storage device provisioning.
Testing:
  • Download and run Microsoft ADK for testing.
  • Run AMD Suspend to test sleep, hibernate and reboot cycles.
  • Run ad hoc testing to reproduce failure scenarios.
Special Units:
  • Prep devices for demos (special HW configurations, SW and test loads).
  • Run around AMD Austin campus troubleshooting, delivering and replacing test devices.
Hardware Management:
  • Assemble computers, power supplies, memory, processors and other components and get device running.
  • Read and follow CRB Guides to flash basic firmware to get CRBs working.
  • Learn/know how to use dediprog to flash SPI components.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering would be a nice to have but not a must have
