Job Summary
The Network Security Analyst is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the DSHS organization’s information systems and computer networks. This role focuses on protecting systems from cyber threats, monitoring network activity for suspicious behavior, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. The analyst also evaluates existing cybersecurity tools and controls, develops risk reduction strategies, supports security-related projects, and produces high-quality technical documentation and stakeholder communications in support of DSHS cybersecurity objectives.
Key Responsibilities Network & Systems Security- Monitor network traffic, server logs, and security alerts to identify unusual or suspicious activity
- Investigate security incidents and breaches, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions
- Identify vulnerabilities within network infrastructure and systems and develop mitigation strategies
- Implement and manage firewalls, antivirus solutions, and other security technologies
- Install, administer, troubleshoot, and maintain security‑related software and hardware
- Apply security patches and updates to ensure systems remain protected against emerging threats
- Evaluate and review existing DSHS cybersecurity tools and controls to identify gaps
- Provide recommendations and implement risk reduction and remediation plans
- Support continuous improvement of DSHS network security posture and controls
- Align security practices with organizational policies, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Fulfill basic project management responsibilities for short‑term DSHS cybersecurity initiatives, including:
- Project charters
- Risk management
- Resource coordination
- Communication and expectation management
- Use research, interviews, meetings, and workshops to understand DSHS strategic objectives, business processes, challenges, and improvement opportunities
- Collaborate extensively with internal and external DSHS stakeholders, including business partners, to identify, analyze, and resolve complex security issues and gaps
- Design, prepare, and present project plans, status reports, briefings, and presentations for DSHS leadership and stakeholders
- Develop and maintain internal and external cybersecurity documentation and communication materials
- Edit and review DSHS documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, formatting consistency, and overall cohesiveness
- Manage updates and revisions to technical literature and security documentation
- Produce progress reports and briefing materials as required by the DSHS organization
