Our mission
Boom is on a mission to level the playing field for the 110+ million renters in the US by making housing more flexible, affordable, and rewarding. Boom is building a suite of rental financial services for renters and property managers, including tenant screening, rent payment reporting, rent reporting-as-a-service, and a number of integrations with the largest property management systems (PMS). Boom serves renters through the Boom App and property managers via the Boom Platform.
Now serving thousands of renters, Boom is led by second‑time founders Rob Whiting and Kirill Moizik.
As a UX Designer at Boom, you will directly shape the user experience of our core products used by thousands of renters and real‑estate operators. You’ll create designs that will be put into production instantly, and not just tweaks of buttons but rather full‑fledged products on both the consumer (renter) and business (property manager) side. You will report into the Product organization and partner day‑to‑day with product managers, engineers, QA, and company leadership.
This role requires someone who can move fluidly between high‑level UX thinking (flows, information architecture, interaction models) and detailed execution (wireframes, prototypes, specs). The role is based in Austin, TX.
- Design end‑to‑end user experiences across Boom’s products, from early concept through production
- Partner closely with product managers and front‑end engineers to translate requirements into thoughtful UX flows, wireframes, and prototypes
- Own UX for key product areas, ensuring consistency, usability, and scalability as the platform grows
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure designs are implemented accurately
- Participate in product discovery and user research to inform design decisions
- Maintain and evolve design systems, patterns, and documentation
- Support QA and product teams in validating design quality during implementation and release
- Advocate for user‑centered design while balancing business goals and technical constraints
- 5+ years of professional UX/product design experience, preferably on complex web‑based SaaS products
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end‑to‑end UX work (flows, systems thinking, shipped features)
- Deep experience with Figma (components, auto‑layout, design systems, prototyping)
- Experience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers
- Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and interaction design best practices
- Ability to work through ambiguity and turn rough ideas into clear, actionable designs
- Excellent communication skills – able to explain design decisions clearly to teammates
- Extraordinary attention to detail with a strong bias toward execution and shipping
- Comfort working in a fast‑moving, early‑stage environment
- Competitive salary with stock options
- US employees:
Full healthcare coverage (health, dental, vision) including 50% coverage for dependents - 15 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) per year + 3 sick days + all US federal holidays (11 in total)
- Company‑issued laptop/Mac Book
- Company‑sponsored training & development
- Regular off‑sites and other company‑sponsored travel opportunities
