Network Engineer – Senior (On‑Prem Datacenter Buildout)
Join AMD as a Senior Network Engineer to deploy and operate networking infrastructure for an on‑prem data‑center buildout supporting AMD Instinct product development. You will partner with network, cluster design, IT, information security, and infrastructure automation teams to plan, execute, and maintain high‑performance network environments.
Base Pay Range$/yr – $/yr
Key Responsibilities- Deploy and operate front‑side, back‑end, and management networks across on‑prem data‑center environments.
- Execute network deployment plans for new sites, clusters, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Perform site visits to oversee new network buildouts executed by operations teams.
- Architect and optimize network designs to reduce latency, packet loss, and jitter while increasing scale and performance.
- Deploy and support new software releases, system upgrades, and patches across the network infrastructure.
- Ensure network architecture meets high availability, resiliency, and performance requirements for mission‑critical platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, coordinating with vendors and cross‑functional support teams.
- Maintain familiarity with vendor technologies including AMD/Pensando, Cisco, Palo Alto, and Arista.
- Plan for future network capacity, redundancy, and technology growth.
- Develop and maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, cabling schedules, inventories, and DCIM data.
- Monitor network health across global sites to proactively identify issues and improvement opportunities.
- Train and enable on‑site L1 support teams.
- Participate in on‑call incident response as L2 support on an occasional basis.
- Experience maintaining enterprise and/or cloud network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and NICs.
- Experience supporting hosting technologies such as hyper‑converged infrastructure, converged infrastructure, and Xen virtualization.
- Experience supporting infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, BOOTP, PXE, TFTP, NTP, and PAM.
- Experience developing Python and/or Ansible scripts for infrastructure automation and metrics collection.
- Intermediate Linux administration skills.
- Experience using tools such as MAAS and Infoblox.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco and Arista networking products.
- Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms and Nexus Manager.
- Strong understanding of VXLAN/EVPN overlays, BGP routing, and leaf‑spine architectures.
- Experience supporting traditional and modern datacenter architectures across multiple sites.
- Knowledge of RDMA networking and performance tuning.
- Experience with non‑Ethernet technologies such as Infini Band and Connect
X‑5/6. - Experience creating and maintaining network knowledge bases and operational runbooks.
- Strong understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
- Ability to create accurate and detailed network diagrams for design and planning.
- Ability to clearly explain complex network concepts to application engineers and leadership.
- Experience providing detailed hardware and software selection recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Arista ACE Level 3 certification a plus.
- Cisco CCNP certification preferred.
