Job DescriptionThe IT CSS Application Development Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of technical resources who provide Mainframe application support and development. This position oversees the development and support of new and existing applications, manages customer expectations, ensures process adherence, provides timely responses to user requests, and advocates for users across internal and external IT teams. Additionally, the role may act as a project manager for single or multiple projects and manage vendor relationships.
Responsibilities- Provide operational leadership, guidance, and financial oversight for the Application Development team.
- Establish relationships with business management and end users.
- Oversee system applications to ensure optimum performance and success of new development efforts.
- Conduct system audits of technology implemented to verify application results.
- Ensure all development projects are within scope, budget, objectives, schedules, and resources.
- Manage the prescribed software development life cycle to achieve accuracy, quality, timeliness, and user satisfaction.
- Collaborate with management on strategic planning, identify new application projects, and establish priorities.
- Establish and support the applications development environment, including methodology, standards, tools, performance criteria, and design principles.
- Enhance operating efficiencies, metrics, and customer satisfaction while improving financial performance.
- Coach and counsel employees on performance, set standards, recommend pay actions, and handle other HR actions.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in application development and IT project management.
- Skills: Leadership and mentoring, strong interpersonal and communication, analytical and problem‑solving, change implementation, accountability, relationship building, teamwork, adaptability, time management, quality execution, collaboration, operational modeling, reporting, and follow‑up.
- Knowledge: Full software development life cycle;
Salesforce/Sales Cloud/Service Cloud/Experience Cloud, data architecture, security, integrations, Apex, Lightning, LWC, platform development; programming languages (COBOL) and Mainframe systems (DB2, IMS); programming standards; coding techniques, file access methods, testing methods, documentation; architecture and infrastructure for Mainframe applications.
