Luna Data Solutions has an immediate contract position opening for a Sr. People Soft Functional Analyst resource with our public sector industry client located in Austin, TX. All candidates must be local to or close to the Austin, TX area. This hybrid role requires onsite work three days per week.

Role Description

The candidate will work in an Agile/SCRUM environment, conduct daily stand-up meetings, and maintain the Azure Dev Ops application in accordance with client standards to support a conversion from the legacy People Soft application to a cloud-hosted replacement. The role is functional in nature and does not require hands‑on coding; however, the analyst must have enough technical acumen to research problems in the legacy system using People Tools/Code, SQL, etc.

The candidate will demonstrate knowledge and skills in both the functional and technical aspects of People Soft.

Key Activities & Responsibilities
  • The resource must have impeccable oral and written communication skills and solid experience with the integration of the core modules within the People Soft HRMS 8.8 application (HRMS, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration, Pension Administration, Payroll), including researching processing requirements between other systems—both upstream and downstream.
  • The resource must be confident conversing with top-level management, developers, and users at the functional level.
  • The resource must be able to accurately read People Code, write SQL, and analyze data.
  • Have experience on data conversion projects.
  • Have been a hands‑on project team lead.
  • Have substantial experience as a functional resource in Benefits Administration, Payroll, or Pension Administration modules.
  • Have past development work, while being functional in recent years.
  • Have development experience with People Soft code, SQL, Application Engine, and SQR programs, and be able to determine how a page or Application Engine is processing data.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience gathering requirements toward changes in the People Soft application.
  • Minimum of 6 years of current hands‑on functional experience in one or more of the following People Soft modules: HRMS, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration, Pension Administration, Payroll.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working exclusively as a People Soft Functional Analyst.
  • Minimum of 8 years of solid understanding of technical aspects of the People Soft application.
  • Minimum of 5 years of strong SQL skills; ability to write and execute advanced SQL in Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in Information Technology.
  • Communicates respectfully and works harmoniously with all co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Highly collaborative and transparent.
  • Ability to quickly grasp the complexities of the client business mission.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work efficiently and productively, and communicate confidently verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification(s) a plus but not required.
  • Past experience as a developer in HRMS, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration, Pension Administration, or Payroll.
  • Solid People Tools skills, including Application Engine, People Code, and SQR.
  • Ability to manage a Scrum or Kanban team.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure Dev Ops.
  • Experience in prior implementations/conversions from a legacy People Soft application.
  • Experience with Defined Benefit Pension Plans.
  • Defined Benefit Pension Plan knowledge to understand data requirements and use.
  • Experience with Base Benefits or Benefits Administration systems.
  • Experience with Pension Administration systems.
  • Experience with Payroll Systems.
  • Ability to provide expert troubleshooting for isolating functional/technical problems.
