Summer Internship (May 2026- August 2026)
Position Overview
The Internship Program allows college students to learn the industry and gain hands‑on experiences in Human Resources, Recruiting and Communications. In this position, you will work closely with experienced HR & Communication team professionals, gain exposure to real‑world people operations, and build foundational skills for a future career in HR or Communications. You will complete tasks using both interpersonal and technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment while adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment.
You will also have the opportunity to network with Company leaders while presenting internship experiences and findings.
- Assist with recruitment activities: format and update job descriptions.
- Review recruitment postings and materials and partnering with Region Recruiters.
- Support HR projects as assigned, including project formatting and categorizing team channels.
- Review our safety PPE (physical performance evaluations) requirements and update job descriptions and work with our third party to standardize our testing requirements.
- Support Learning & Development Manager with new initiatives and programs.
- Content Creation & Writing:
- Draft, edit, and proofread content for internal and external communications (including newsletters, website copy, social media posts, and employee‑facing app updates) ensuring alignment with brand voice and standards.
- Assist in development of presentations, flyers, signage, promotional materials, and other communication assets for business leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Attend video and photo shoots to assist with logistics, shot lists, interviews, and behind‑the‑scenes support for internal communications.
- Digital & Social Media Support:
- Assist in managing the company’s social media presence: drafting posts, scheduling content, monitoring engagement, and helping develop and execute new campaign ideas across Facebook, Instagram, and Linked In.
- Compile reports on social media performance, analyzing metrics and identifying opportunities to improve reach and engagement.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors and all employees.
- Ability to work independently or with little supervision.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Adherence to Texas Materials policies and procedures as outlined in the Texas Region Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform and/or learn to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in HR, Business, Communications or related field.
- Strong interest in Human Resources or Communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Reliable, proactive and eager to learn in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong computer skills are required.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills are required.
- Ability to express and communicate verbally.
- Proficiency/ability to learn Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro).
