What We Are Looking ForNext Care Urgent Care seeks an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant, preferably pursuing a Non‑Certified Technician (NCT) certification. The ideal candidate is customer‑friendly, passionate, and thrives in a fast‑paced, team environment. Current and active NCT license required.
Responsibilities- Perform radiology duties within scope of practice as stated in Next Care Policies and Procedures and state radiation rules.
- Assist provider with exams (including vitals), procedures, and direct patient care under direct supervision and within Medical Assistant scope.
- Administer all forms of medications per policy, provider direction, and safety protocols.
- Collect urine for various testing, including employer drug screens.
- Perform splinting and casting.
- Conduct various types of physical exams such as sports physicals.
- Provide wound care, oxygen administration, and other urgent‑care duties.
- Promptly notify provider of all unusual patient occurrences and medication events on an incident report.
- Notify Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns.
- Follow laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
- Proficient in EMR/EHR.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or described by Company policy.
The Medical Assistant supports the organization with customer service and treats all patients with respect and dignity, providing patient care services in the urgent‑care setting and meeting patient needs.
Education and CertificationEducation: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an APPROVED (accredited) Medical Assistant training program.
- OR completed an UNAPPROVED (non‑accredited) training program AND obtained a national certification: AAMA CMA, AMT RMA, or NHA CCMA.
- OR completed an UNAPPROVED program AND worked as a Medical Assistant for one (1) year or more after program completion OR has verifiable work experience directly supervised by a Provider or Physician Group for a minimum of 2000 hours or 1 year.
Licensure for NCT: Must have an active and current NCT license issued by the Texas Medical Board.
Certification: Current healthcare level CPR certification issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, American Safety Health Institute, or National Safety.
