Position: Certified Medical Physicist (MS or PhD) - Austin, TX

Overview

Texas Oncology is seeking a full-time Clinical Medical Physicist (M.S. or Ph.D) located at the S. Austin, TX clinic at 4101 James Casey St #100 Austin, Texas 78745. Texas Oncology is seeking qualified candidates for an exciting Radiation Oncology Medical Physicist position. The successful candidate will be part of a physics group consisting of 13 physicists, 2 physics residents, a medical physics assistant, and 15 dosimetrists covering eight facilities in the Central Texas area.

This group supports nine radiation oncologists in a busy practice setting. The position will primarily provide medical physics coverage for the South Austin Cancer Center, working with two other onsite physicists, three dosimetrists, seven therapists, and two radiation oncologists. With more than 600 physicians and over 220 sites of service, Texas Oncology is a pioneer in community-based cancer treatment and is united in healing with US Oncology, one of the country’s foremost cancer treatment and research networks.

The South Austin clinic houses two Varian iX linacs, Elekta HDR, very busy SBRT, SRS, and TBI programs, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and TSET. Treatment planning is performed in Eclipse and Elements. The center will be replacing one iX with a Truebeam this year.

Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Medical Physics
  • Graduation from a CAMPEP accredited residency, and board eligibility by the A
  • The position requires temporary (and eventually full) licensure in the state of Texas
