Brief

Job Description

Under the direction of the Blood Lead Surveillance Branch Director, this position performs advanced (senior‑level) consultative services and technical assistance work for the Blood Lead Surveillance Branch. Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the outreach programs and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, or the general public. Serves as the Blood Lead Surveillance Outreach subject matter expert.

This position determines outreach efforts, their implementation, and evaluating their effectiveness. Works under general direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Develop program outreach to further the goal toward the elimination of child lead poisoning. Implement outreach programs for healthcare providers, families, and the general public. Develop effective techniques for evaluating outreach programs. Develop and review policy and procedure manuals relating to outreach to healthcare providers, families, children, and other agencies relating to primary and secondary prevention for children with elevated blood lead levels.

  • Works with and speaks to community and professional groups to coordinate, improve, and stimulate interest in the program and to secure support for local programs. Consults with public and private agencies involved in the program to resolve problems, identify training needs, and discuss program effectiveness. Prepare administrative reports, studies, and specialized projects. Collects, organizes, analyzes, prepares, develops, and disseminates educational outreach material in response to requests for information and reports.

    Assures web site and outreach material is current. (30%)
  • Conducts surveys or reviews outreach efforts to determine compliance with grant and agency requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Oversee the completion of and monitor required performance reports and recommend appropriate changes. Determines trends and resolves operational problems. Assists in identifying the need for new programs. Provides consultative services and technical assistance to plan, implement, and monitor effective programs and services.

    Oversee the studies and analyses of operations and problems and the preparation of reports of findings and recommendations. (25%)
  • Reviews and updates program outreach procedures and publications. Conducts training and provides guidance to healthcare providers on a variety of topics. Provides guidance to staff in the development and integration of new methods and procedures. (10%)
