Job Summary and QualificationsGENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Performs non-invasive hemodynamic evaluations and writes test results.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Perform vascular ultrasonic procedures as directed by physicians.
- Schedule patients for procedures.
- Explain procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Position patients and select the appropriate transducer.
- Conduct scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment by moving scanner over specified body area and adjusting equipment to focus.
- Perform exams properly and in a timely manner.
- Takes patient history and retrieves previous files.
- Coordinate patient flow and check daily list to ensure all exams are complete.
- Maintain equipment.
- Order and stock all supplies.
- Maintain department records, reports and files.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Read and understand and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.
- Practice and adhere to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values statements.
EDUCATION:
No education requirements.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year experience as an ultrasound technologist/sonographer.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Must hold one or more of the following credentials:
Registered Vascular Tech, Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in accordance with state regulation and clinical specialty. - Must have certification through ARDMS or ARRT.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of vascular sonography.
- Sufficient knowledge of anatomy and physiology pertaining to vascular examinations.
- Problem‑solving skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to take vital signs.
- Proficiency with basic office equipment, including computer, telephone, photocopier, and fax machine.
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment in a vascular lab.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work effectively under stress.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
