As the NICU Clinical Dietician, you will function within the multidisciplinary team to provide nutritional care for all infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This includes nutrition assessment and intervention, education of staff and families, development of policies and procedures, participation in data collection projects and service as a consultant to the entire healthcare team.
- You will assess patient nutritional needs
- You will interpret, negotiate, calculate and execute physician order for modified diets
- You will develop and implement nutrition care plans
- You will provide written and verbal education to patients and families on nutritional needs as ordered by MD or other members of the hospital staff on individual basis or in classes
- You will record and document appropriate information in Meditech and in patient medical records
- You will monitor patient response to medical nutrition therapy in the NICU and adjust nutritional intervention as needed based on monitoring parameters
- You will develop and implement standards of care for the NICU to ensure provision of optimal nutrition care
- You will communicate and cooperate with all hospital personnel to achieve the overall objectives of the Food Service Department
Experience
- 1– 3 years clinical experience in neonatal nutrition
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with the completion of Didactic internship or coordinated program as approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Registered Dietitian(R.D.) credential or eligible with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Licensed Dietitian(L.D.)with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians within
90 days of initial employment - Specialty certification as a Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD)
- Current Serv Safe Food Handler Permit, Travis County Health Department Food Handler Card or State Food Safety permit– preferred
