The Mental Health Specialist VI performs senior-level highly complex psychological/therapeutic work. The role includes individual, group, and family therapy, behavioral intervention planning, forensic assessment, and clinical supervision.
Essential Job Functions- Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to patients.
- Develop and implement individualized behavior plans for aggression, self‑harm, intrusiveness, etc.
- Conduct forensic assessments, including violence risk and competency to stand trial.
- Coordinate projects to reduce workplace violence and improve patient care.
- Supervise other Mental Health Specialists and provide guidance to staff.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and document services.
- Perform duties related to disaster response, COOP activation, and alternative shift patterns.
- Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or eligible for Texas licensure as a Licensed Psychologist.
- Master's or Doctorate in psychology, counseling, or related field.
- Five years of experience in psychological/therapeutic work.
- Board‑certified behavior analyst (BCBA) preferred.
- Doctorate preferred.
- Background check, drug screen, fingerprint check, and registry checks required.
- Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures.
