As a Registered Clinical Dietician, you will assess patients’ nutritional status and design nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health. You will serve as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and make recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision.
- Provide evidence‑based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets.
- Conduct nutritional screenings and assessments.
- Collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations.
- Identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients’ records.
- Assist the Food Service Department Dietary Aides with patient food selection and clarify allowable and disallowed foods based on the prescribed diet.
- 1 year of clinical nutrition experience in an acute‑care hospital setting (preferred).
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition with successful completion of an American Dietetic Association (ADA) approved internship or coordinated undergraduate program.
- Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential or eligibility to obtain the credential within 6 months of initial employment.
- Licensed Dietitian (L.D.) with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dieticians within 6 months of initial employment.
