University Health Services (UHS) is an accredited on‑campus medical facility dedicated to addressing the varied healthcare needs of UT Austin students. UHS provides comprehensive services, including general medical care, public health education and specialty clinics.

Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an accredited on‑campus mental health facility dedicated to supporting the well‑being of UT Austin students. CMHC offers a range of services, including assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well‑being services.

The Longhorn Wellness Center is the health promotion unit servicing University Health Services and Counseling and Mental Health Center. Staff focuses on educating students about priority college health issues by hosting workshops and events, creating new tools, and collaborating with the campus community to enhance overall well‑being.

Position Overview

General Counseling and Mental Health Center is seeking to fill one (1) position as the coordinator of our Mindful Eating Program. Must be licensed as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist. This position will provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention, and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with an emphasis on supporting students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.

Responsibilities
  • Provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on students who present with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
  • Conduct initial assessments of students’ presenting concerns and maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts as required by center policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement programmatic interventions to address the psycho‑social mental health needs of students.
  • Identify group assignment preferences and propose/develop new groups.
  • Initiate advertising, recruitment, and screening for groups.
  • Facilitate groups in accordance with service agreement.
  • Demonstrate knowledge about group counseling and/or seek appropriate training.
  • Review client records to determine progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered, maintaining current, accurate, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and CMHC policies.
  • Provide clinical consultation to others on an as‑needed basis and seek consultation when appropriate. Provide urgent care services as necessary to students.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other mental health professionals on CMHC's multidisciplinary staff and other university departments and organizations.
  • Develop linkages with key contacts of the designated population or issue for the purpose of developing and implementing programmatic interventions which generate substantial participation by students.
