As the Lead CT Technologist, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day clinical, technical and operational functions. You will ensure compliance with patient care quality standards as it relates to care provided to all age groups of patients ranging from neonate to geriatric. You will maintain performance improvement activities within the department and participate in CQI activities. You will ensure the competence of all personnel.
You must be capable of developing, interpreting and administering all policies, procedures and protocols of the department. You will maintain efficient and effective department operations while maintaining compliance with all Joint Commission, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and practices.
- Consistently produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric age groups.
- Follow established scanning and viewing protocols.
- Operate CT scanner and X‑ray equipment (any models) and related equipment efficiently and effectively.
- Complete quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizing and prioritizing workflow to meet STAT and urgent demands while continuing to meet OP customer standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute and challenging patients; possess skills to modify positioning and scanning factors when standard cannot be performed.
- Demonstrate knowledge of disease processes and produce studies that optimally identify related anatomy.
- Solicit patient cooperation by providing patient education about procedure and expected sensations before and throughout exam.
- Demonstrate competence in using the power injector; verbalize limits of use.
- Scan patients of all ages, tailoring exams to the age/size/weight/special needs of patients.
- Complete required documentation on forms, logs, workstation and Meditech.
- Label images electronically and identify according to protocol.
- Review written orders, assess patient medical record for allergies, possible pregnancy and other pertinent data prior to performing study.
- Ensure related information is conveyed to radiologist performing/interpreting exam when possible.
- Three years’ experience performing CT Technologist procedures in an acute care setting.
- Five years’ experience as a CT Technologist with supervisory experience – preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited approved program in Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of courses in computed tomography (CT) and cross‑sectional anatomy.
- Current Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification with Texas Medical Board (TMB).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certified in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT®).
- Certified in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT (CT)).
