Our mission at Healthy horns is to enhance the health and well‑being of students' bodies, minds and lives in support of their academic and personal goals.
Responsibilities- Provide short‑term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, prevention and outreach services to undergraduate and graduate students with emphasis on disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
- Conduct initial assessments and maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all service contacts.
- Develop and implement programmatic interventions addressing psycho‑social mental health needs of students.
- Identify group assignment preferences, initiate and lead groups, and facilitate groups in accordance with service agreements.
- Maintain knowledge of group counseling best practices and seek appropriate training.
- Provide clinical consultation to other professionals and urgent care services as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, other university departments and organizations.
- Develop linkages with key contacts for programmatic interventions to generate substantial student participation.
- Provide clinical training and supervision to interns, practicum students, group co‑leaders and oversee preceptorships and apprenticeships.
- Attend departmental meetings, staff development programs, and prevention and outreach team meetings; contribute ideas and problem‑solving.
- Comply with all CMHC and UT policies, procedures and guidelines.
- May be assigned other relevant duties as applicable.
- Master’s Degree in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a degree meeting eligibility requirements for Texas licensure.
- Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or another degree acceptable to the Texas Board of Examiners of Psychology.
- Licensed to practice independently as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist; or equivalent from another state with ability to obtain Texas licensure within one year.
- Experience in a high‑demand outpatient or inpatient mental health setting.
- Experience providing culturally competent treatment to a varied client population.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- At least two years of experience providing services to college‑aged persons with disordered eating and/or body image difficulties.
- Knowledge and experience working with serious mental illness.
- At least three years of significant experience in providing short‑term individual counseling and crisis intervention services to a culturally varied population.
- At least three years of experience in high‑demand outpatient or inpatient mental health settings.
- At least three years of experience providing crisis intervention, triage, care coordination, and brief therapy to young adults and/or college students.
- Experience working in a college/university counseling center or outpatient mental health setting.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of mental health providers.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel such as academic affairs and student services providers.
- Ability to function within a large system and collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a flexible yet highly organized working style.
- Licensed as an LPC, LCSW, or Psychologist for a minimum of two years.
LCSW/LPC: $82,860 + depending on qualifications
PhD: $95,400 + depending on qualifications
- May work around standard office conditions.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
- Exposure to chemicals and commercial items typically found in office, medical clinics, and building repairs/maintenance.
