* Restricted party screenings for individuals and entities (e.g., collaborators, vendors, visiting scholars, sponsors).
* Visa and immigration‐related reviews to assess deemed export considerations.
* Export control review of visiting scholars, international collaborators, and foreign national access to controlled technology or data.
* Reviews of international shipments, new vendors, international transactions, and data or material transfers.
* Assessment of research activities, agreements, or collaborations for export control implications.
* Ensures determinations are supported by regulatory analysis, documented appropriately, and escalated when necessary.
* U.S. Munitions List (USML) category and subparagraph determinations.
* Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCNs) under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
* Other applicable designations under ITAR, EAR, OFAC, or related regulations.
* Collaborates with faculty, researchers, and subject‐matter experts to obtain technical details necessary for accurate classifications and licensing or exception determinations.
* Monitoring compliance with license conditions, technology control plans, and access restrictions.
* Assisting with internal compliance reviews, audits, and assessments.
* Supporting corrective actions and documenting compliance activities.
* Maintaining export control records in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
* Applying institutional export control policies and procedures and recommending improvements.
* Assisting with export control training and outreach for faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
* Collaborating on the development and maintenance of export control guidance and content for the institutional website and internal wiki.
* Reviewing the Federal Register, trade publications, agency guidance, and other public sources for updates to export control laws, regulations, and interpretations.
* Summarizing and communicating relevant regulatory changes internally.
* Supporting export control audits, program assessments, and activities of the Export Control Council.
* Assisting the Export Control Officer with special projects and program initiatives.
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of experience performing export control jurisdiction and classification.
* Demonstrated ability to understand, follow, and document the Order of Review for jurisdiction and classification.
* Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulations, policies, and guidance.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
* Ability to manage multiple reviews and deadlines with attention to detail.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain regulatory requirements to non‐experts in an educational and positive way.
* Proficiency with compliance software, database or case‐management systems.
* Willing and able to learn about cutting-edge scientific and engineering technologies, terms, techniques, and item specifications.
* Provides outstanding customer service with a sense of urgency.
* Actively encourages, enables, and practices continuous improvement.
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline
* Prior work experience in a complex university environment
* Familiarity with sponsored research administration
* Approaches work and collaboration with an optimistic outlook
