The selected candidate will perform advanced (senior-level) analytical work for the Enforcement Division (ENF), County Compliance Section (CCS). This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public accountability. This position is responsible for investigating complaints and conducting fact-finding inquiries on County Tax Assessor-Collector offices, with a focus on motor vehicle title and registration transactions.
The investigative analyst will collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to identify potential fraud waste or abuse; develop investigative leads, make referrals to law enforcement; and support investigations involving administrative or criminal misconduct, helping safeguard the integrity of the department’s operations.
The position requires direct interaction with county officials, public stakeholders, and internal agency leadership to gather facts, prepare detailed reports, and support law enforcement actions. The investigative analyst reports to the County Compliance Section Manager and is expected to work under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment when addressing complex compliance issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Regularly reviews and analyzes operational, financial, and compliance reports to identify patterns, anomalies, or trends that may indicate potential fraud, waste, or abuse.
- Investigates allegations of non-compliance, operational irregularities, and suspected fraud, waste, or abuse involving motor vehicle title and registration transactions processed by County Tax Assessor-Collector and full-service deputy offices.
- Collects, reviews, and interprets complex records and transactional data necessary to complete investigations and verify adherence to compliance standards.
- Identifies, contact, and interviews relevant parties, including complainants, county personnel, witnesses, and other stakeholders to gather factual information and clarify circumstances surrounding alleged violations.
